Short Term Accommodation

Before you arrive you will have to arrange a place for your family to stay for the first few nights/weeks in Nova Scotia. We can provide relocation accommodation and home stay accommodation depending on availability.  We have several options available ranging from sharing a home with a family who have already made the move to extended stay executive suites.

If you have already been on a research trip, you will most likely have an idea of the area and the price you will need to pay for your short-term accommodation. You will need to allow some time to learn about the rental market and different neighbourhoods. A number of points to consider include the amenities for you and your family, proximity to work and schools, bus routes, all apply whether renting or buying.

Rental costs are usually higher for furnished short-term accommodation. There are many unfurnished one year lease options.  Some apartments include heat and hot water as part of the rent, appliances are also usually included in the cost of the apartment.

Lease Agreements

When applying to rent an apartment, landlords usually perform background checks on prospective residents.  As a newcomer this can be difficult, and you may have to look for companies that have special arrangements.

When you do sign a rental agreement, be sure that you understand what you are signing and get everything in writing. You will be asked for a deposit and some rental companies also require 12 post-dated cheques to ensure that rent is paid on time.
